Medicare Advantage Plans

Seniors on Medicare parts A&B are able to use their insurance at Redlands Yucaipa Medical Group. The group also accepts many Medicare plans including Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare PPOs/supplemental plans. Additional medical services are covered through Medicare Advantage plans that are not paid for under parts A & B of Original Medicare.

Medicare Advantage Plans Accepted
  • AARP by United/Secure Horizons including Focus and Medicare Complete Plans
  • Blue Shield  including 65 Plus and Choice Plans
  • Wellcare No Premium by Health Net
  • IEHP – available only for people on both Medi-Cal and Medicare
  • InterValley
  • United HealthCare (listed under AARP above)
  • SCAN Health Plan

Original Medicare

Seniors on parts A&B only are able to call to schedule an appointment at any time. Without additional supplemental coverage (an Advantage plan or PPO plan) they will pay 20% of the cost of the doctor’s visit.

Medicare Supplemental Plans (Medi-Gap or PPO plans)

Some people choose a Medicare supplemental plan that picks up the costs (20%) not covered by original Medicare. There is a monthly cost for these plans, plus participants need to buy a separate Part D plan to cover prescription costs. Usually people that can afford an extra $150-$200 per month for coverage that want to be able to walk-in to any Medicare office choose these types of plans.

Open Enrollment

Annual Enrollment period for choosing or switching your Medicare plan is in fall. Some of the reasons you can qualify to enroll at other times of the year: if you retire and lose coverage, move to a new service area, or qualify for Extra Help/assistance from the state. People who turn 65 are also able to enroll during the month of their 65st birthday and the 3 months before and after.

Extra Help for Medicare Costs

If you are living on a fixed income you may qualify for Extra Help paying for your prescription drug costs, monthly Part D premiums and/or annual deductible. You may also qualify for a Medicare Savings Program from the State for assistance with Part A and Part B costs. An agent can explain the Extra Help program and help you apply: call Dave Nash at (909) 792-4410.
